How we run Google Ads for Shopify.
Shopify gets you a store. Scaling it on Google is a feed, margin-tier structure, and order-reconciliation problem. We fix all three.
Order vs. ad-attributed purchase reconciliation
Before touching bids, we reconcile net Shopify orders against Google Ads conversions: aligning reporting time zones, stripping duplicate conversion actions, and enforcing unique transaction ID deduplication so page reloads never count as two sales.
Merchant Center feed & variant rebuild
Shopify’s default Google channel feed ships thin titles and missing attributes. We rebuild titles, GTINs, custom labels, and variant mapping so high-intent queries match the right SKU.
Shopping & PMax split by contribution margin
We segment campaigns by gross margin tier and bestseller status rather than dumping your entire catalog into one catch-all Performance Max campaign.
Contribution-margin scaling
We judge campaigns on contribution after COGS, payment processing, fulfillment, shipping subsidy, and ad spend, plus new-customer share versus repeat brand buyers.
Why most Shopify Google Ads underperform.
The store looks great and the ad account says ROAS is 4x, yet cash in the bank is flat. Here is usually why.
Google Ads reports more revenue than Shopify actually banked.
Transaction ID deduplication & clean primary actions
When a store leaves legacy pixels, GA4 imports, and the Google & YouTube app firing together as Primary, Google double-counts orders and chases phantom ROAS. We lock down one clean Primary purchase action with transaction ID deduplication.
Blended ROAS looks high because PMax is harvesting your brand name.
Separate brand from net-new Shopping
Catch-all Performance Max loves bidding on shoppers who already typed your store name. We isolate brand terms so you see the real acquisition cost of a net-new customer.
You are scaling low-margin bestsellers that lose money after shipping.
Custom labels by margin tier
A 3.5x ROAS on a 70%-margin SKU prints money; the same 3.5x ROAS on a heavy 28%-margin SKU with free shipping bleeds cash. We tag custom labels by real contribution margin so budget flows to the SKUs that pay.
The default Shopify feed starves your best variants.
Query-led feed architecture
Shopify’s out-of-the-box feed drops critical material, size, and use-case terms from product titles. We rewrite feed attributes for how buyers actually search Google Shopping.
The method
The platforms’ AI optimizes for the platforms. Ours optimizes for you.
When Meta, Google, or LinkedIn say "let our AI run your ads," the question they never answer is: toward whose outcome, theirs or yours? We keep the judgment, they run the auction. Targeting is commoditized now, so we win on creative velocity, test more angles faster, reverse-engineer what is working in your competitors’ ads with StealAds (stealads.ai), the ad-intelligence software we built, and feed the platforms clean signal so they find buyers, not cheap clicks. We run it all on the ad agent kits we build and open-source.

Why do Shopify orders and Google Ads conversions never match?
First, they measure different clocks: Google Ads attributes back to the ad click date, while Shopify reports by order timestamp. Second, many stores accidentally leave the Google & YouTube app, a legacy GTM tag, and a GA4 purchase import all set to Primary, or omit the Shopify order ID (`transaction_id`) that prevents duplicate counting on thank-you page reloads. We audit and reconcile the gap before changing your bidding.
How do you calculate whether Shopify Google Ads is actually profitable?
We look past platform ROAS to real contribution margin: net order revenue minus COGS, payment processing fees, pick-pack-and-ship fulfillment, shipping subsidies, and ad spend, segmented between first-time customers and returning buyers.
Should our store run Standard Shopping, Performance Max, or both?
Usually both, structured by margin tier and product role. We keep brand search and high-margin hero SKUs controlled so Performance Max cannot hide wasted spend behind cheap brand clicks.
How fast do feed and tracking fixes show up in performance?
Fixing duplicate conversion actions, transaction ID deduplication, and broken Merchant Center titles usually cleans up bidding signals within two to four weeks. Profit-tier scaling compounds over the next 60 to 90 days.
What does it cost?
Management typically runs $3,500 to $10,000 per month depending on spend and channels, plus your ad budget. We are transparent about both, and we do not mark up your media.
